Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 as the Royal Porcelain Factory. The Flora Danica service was begun in 1790 and remains one of the factorys most celebrated creations. Its decorations are based on botanical illustrations from the Flora Danica publication, with each botanical subject meticulously painted by hand. Characterised by extensive gilding, naturalistic plant specimens and technically demanding porcelain work, Flora Danica has remained among Royal Copenhagens most prestigious productions for generations.
