Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 as the Royal Porcelain Factory. The Flora Danica service was begun in 1790 and is one of the factorys most celebrated creations. Its decorations are based on botanical illustrations from the Flora Danica publication, with each plant specimen meticulously painted by hand. The service is distinguished by naturalistic botanical motifs, extensive gilding and technically demanding porcelain work, including its characteristic reticulated borders.
