Technique - Christina Muff’s forms are modelled by hand using ancient techniques; hand-modelling, coil- and mould-building. Starting with smooth slabs of clay she slowly shapes the intricate sculptures by hand, a time consuming task as the forms require significant drying time in the process as the sculptures are most often are large and detailed. When glazing Christina Muff employs various combinations of glazing techniques including brushing, dipping, pouring and many forms are fired numerous times to achieve the desired surface and colour. The objective is to achieve texture and surface that resembles man made items that nature has reclaimed.
